East meets West
Germanic Roman culture of the west and the essentially Greek culture of the East were bound to have their differences. Christian Byzantium and the end of the classical world as they knew it. Could, as some have said, it be the triumph of barbarism and religion. Constantine in his imperial capital of Constantinople. All was right with the world and it was a time that afforded greater opportunities to live a more civilized life. Constantine picked a great spot to build his city in the 4th century. Cool, healthy climate, good trade route, natural harbor and to the south, rich gardens of Asia Minor. And all this outside of the conspiracy and intrigue of Rome. Click your heals Constantine and say..."There's no place like home."
Later we will argue about by who's authority the East or West can change the creeds and we will argue and agree to disagree right up to today. Filioque argues the divinity of Christ , and Theotokos the place of Mary. East and West should someday realize they are united on a circle and not a level playing field.
